Cray offers you a wide choice of activities - whether you are after a central touring location to base yourself in, a wide choice of sporting activities to keep the family busy or a spot of hill walking and wildlife watching, Cray is ideally located.

There are plenty of historic and other sights to see within an hour’s radius. In the summer there is the Festival Theatre in Pitlochry and in Winter, Skiing at Glenshee. But really, for most people, the house and grounds are reward enough when seeking a respite from the everyday hustle and bustle, for children, there is an adventure playground close by the house and Boating on the loch (a small rowing boat is provided).

There is also an amazing array of wildlife on show in particular with red squirrels eating from the bird tables just outside the house.

If any place was ever ready to recharge your batteries, it is Cray.
 
Fishing
There’s fishing available for trout and salmon almost on the doorstep. The salmon and trout fishing season on Shee Water and Black Water (Glenshee) is from 15 April to 15 October. Loch trout fishing is avialable free on the loch and 2 rods with tackle are available. Salmon fishing is available on our 2 mile stretch of the shee and permits and a ghillie can be arranged through Pam. Loch trout fishing is also available on a couple of local lochs. The River Tay system dominates Perthshire and its 119 mile course is a haven for any angler.
 
Play Park
There is a substantial play park availabe for use, and this includes a seesaw, 4 swings, including child swings, trampoline, flying fox, large basket swing and a large slide. In addition to this there are a number of ball games etc. available for use.
 
Golf
There are numerous great golf courses within easy reach of Cray. As well as Scotland’s highest courses at Dalmunzie House Hotel (9 holes) golfing at Glenisla, Strathmore and Alyth golf centres in Alyth, and Rosemount in Blairgowrie are options. For the real enthusiast, championship courses at Gleneagles and St Andrews are only 1 1/2 hours away.
 
Cycling

For cycling, both off road and on, the area is already well regarded, with quiet scenic back roads and exciting off road tracks. There are a selection of bikes available at the house, of varying ages however helemets are not supplied so please bring your own. Mountain Bikes can also be hired locally.
 
Walking
The hill walking ranges from the gentle to the fiercely Munroesque. Right next to Cray is Mount Blair, it rises to a height of 744m (2440 feet) and the peak separates Glen Shee from Glen Isla to the east, a good challenge for all after breakfast.
 
Skiing
Winter skiing (usually December - March) is minutes away at the nearby Glenshee ski Centre, the largest ski area in Scotland. There are 24 tows and 2 chairlifts, 5 nursery areas and over 40 kilometres of ski runs of varying standards to suit everyone from beginner to expert. The highest point is Glas Maol at 3,500 feet. There is a very good ski school and up-to-date equipment can be hired at the ski area as well as at a number of other locations nearby.
 
Horse Riding
There are several centres locally offering short and long treks through the countryside or up onto the moors, to suit both the more able rider and the novice.
 
Highland Games
There are many highland games in the area during August and September, ranging from the famous Royal Braemar Gathering, to the intimate and friendly gathering at Glen Isla. These offer unique and excellent entertainment for all the family.
