Cray is 1.5 hours from Edinburgh, on the Deeside Tourist Route

Driving from the South

From Perth, join the A93 Northwards towards Braemar and continue through Blairgowrie (you will need to turn left shortly after the bridge over the river in Blairgowrie to stay on the A93).

8 miles North of Bridge of Cally, still on the A93, take the right turn onto the B951, signposted Glenisla and Kirriemuir. After a short distance, cross a small bridge over the River Shee. The gates for Cray are immediately in front of you.

For Cray House, go through the gates and up to the main house on the gravel drive. For Blairbeg Cottage, continue on the B951 for another 300m or so. At the crossroads, you will see the stone cottage with green shutters on the left. The drive is just past the cottage.

Driving from the North

There are two routes you can take here – either via the A9 and Pitlochry, or via the A93 and Braemar.

Option 1: Leave the A9 at Pitlochry and enter the town following direction signs for Braemar (a left turn in town). After about 14 miles you will come to the village of Kirkmichael, carry on through the village. Just outside the village take the left hand turning, signed Braemar. Four miles along this road you will come to a T-junction, turn left to join the A93. After about 4 miles take the right-hand turn, B951 to Kirkton of Glenisla and Kirriemuir.

Option 2: Travel South from Braemar on the A93 for 20 miles, then take the left-hand turn, B951 to Kirkton of Glenisla and Kirriemuir.

Post code: PH10 7LP (sat nav will take you slightly too far on the B951, so please follow our directions for the last half mile at least).
