It’s so easy to get here! – whether you’re travelling from Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Inverness. Cray is around 1.5 hours from Edinburgh and is on The Deeside Tourist Route which takes you through Blairgowrie and Glenshee (Britain’s highest main road).
Driving from the South
Cray is located approximately 32 miles north of Perth. From Perth, follow the A93 to Blairgowrie. Once in Blairgowrie, stay on the A93 and follow the signs for A93 to the Spittal of Glenshee, which is a left-hand turn. This road will take you through the Bridge of Cally and past the Blackwater Ski Hire. After approximately half an hour, there is a right-hand turn for the B951 to Kirkton of Glenisla. Take this right turn. There is a short piece of windy road and over the small bridge, you will see Cray gates before you.
Driving from the North
There are two routes you could take when travelling from the north. The first is much more direct but please be aware that it is a high route, very windy, some of it single track and unfenced, deer, sheep and especially lambs, can run onto the road suddenly. It is however a picturesque route! Leave the A9 at Pitlochry and enter the town following direction signs. As you go through the town look out for a left-hand turn for Braemar – take this turning. After about 14 miles you will come to the village of Kirkmichael, carry on through the village. As you leave, take the left hand turning, signed Braemar. Four miles along this road you will come to a T-junction, turn left to join the A93. After about 4 miles there will be a sign indicating a right-hand turn, B951 to Kirkton of Glenisla. Take this right turn. There is a short piece of windy road and over the small bridge, you will see Cray gates before you.
